I-9 Workshop Sessions

On Campus Work Authorization

F-1 and J-1 students/scholars are aliens lawfully admitted to the United States under authority of the law permitting them to work in U.S. based on federal regulation 8CFR 214.2 (f) (9) (i) as long as student/scholar maintains valid F-1/J-1 legal status.

International Students in F-1 and J-1 status eligible to work on campus no more than 20 hours a week while school is in session (fall and spring semesters) and may work full time on campus when school NOT in session (Thanksgiving,  spring/winter breaks and summer). ALL students MUST complete form I-9 PRIOR to start of employment. If you have a job offer to work for UNC Charlotte (UNCC) and not previously employed by UNCC you must attend one I-9 session listed below to complete form I-9 and other forms required by Tax Office and Human Resources Department.

ALL of the following original documents listed must be brought to the session:

  1. Valid passport and visa.  If visa is in an old passport, bring both passports.
  2. I-20 or DS-2019 form
  3. Most recent I-94 card or print out. Please visit https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov to retrieve and print out the I-94 form –hard copy required, no exceptions

Sessions begin promptly at time shown and lasts about two hours. Please plan accordingly.
