New International Student Orientation

CONGRATULATIONS on your admission to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. We hope that you will take a few moments to explore some of the sites we have listed below to obtain more information regarding new International Undergraduate Students, new International Graduate Students and new Exchange Students.


Spring 2021 Orientation

Due to the fluidity of the current situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic, Spring 2021 New International Student Orientation is being offered online. We are working directly with several university offices to ensure we are providing a beneficial orientation program while keeping the health and safety of our students and staff in mind.
  • January 9th - January 25th: Online International Student Orientation (see link below)
    • Only students INSIDE the U.S. should complete online orientation
    • Students should expect to spend 2.5 hours to complete the self paced orientation

  • January 8th - until TBD: International TA Testing begins.  International TA's must register for the English Language Assessment.
  • January 19th: Virtual Welcome Event (Missed it? Check out the slides HERE). 
  • January 20th: First day of class for Spring 2021 semester

Checklist of Things to Prepare Prior to your Arrival at UNC Charlotte:

  • Pay your SEVIS fee and schedule a visa interview.
  • Make housing arrangements either on-campus or off-campus.
  • Get your immunizations done. Bring a copy with you, in English if possible. 
  • Think about your required Health Insurance plan & either bring your own plan or purchase from UNC Charlotte. 
  • Plan for your finances and payment of tuition and fees.
  • Prepare for academic advising and registration upon arrival at UNC Charlotte. Bring transcripts from your home institution if necessary.
  • Consider purchasing a Meal plan 
  • Make your travel arrangements to arrive to the U.S. NO earlier than 30 days from the start date on your I-20.
